Mutual Aid Coffee Scheme

We have started a scheme to distribute coffee as mutual aid to the local community. Covid-19 and life in general has made life tough for many. A little sharing here and there of resources can make a big difference to communities as a whole.

Cocobolo have purchased the first bag of green coffee for roasting and distribution along with Mr Gary Hytner (thank you!).

We have some great news and heartfelt thanks to Matti Foncha from Cameroon. Cameroon Boyo Coffee farmers donated a bag of coffee for distribution in solidarity with folks in the UK. Wow! This means that for the time being we do not need donations towards mutual aid coffee as we have 2 x 60kg bags to distribute.

It is our intention to try reciprocate the mutual aid to meet some current needs of the farmers, so we would appreciate donations of the following:

  1. Unwanted smart phones
  2. Power Banks

These will be packaged up in a DHL 3kg box and shipped to Matti for distribution amongst his farmer group. The shipping is £60 approx and will be covered by us at Cocobolo.

PLEASE CONTACT US IF YOU KNOW OF ANYWHERE THE COFFEE WOULD BE APPRECIATED – IT CAN BE GROUND OR BEANS. WE ARE ALWAYS ADDING TO OUR LIST OF MUTUAL AID DESTINATIONS

What is “Mutual Aid”?

Mutual Aid is a voluntary reciprocal exchange of resources and services for mutual benefit. Covid-19 has brought local communities together to figure out strategies and resources to meet each others’ needs, such as food, housing, medical care and more.

We share the coffee with the Harston Food Hub, Harston Primary School and Cambridge Sustainable Food. We would be glad to hear of any other destinations for the coffee too, please contact us at roasted@cocobolo.coffee

Our scheme is available to individuals too, just reach out by email.

Cocobolo roast, weigh and bag the coffee and then distribute.

Thanks and best wishes,

Stephen Franks.
